Founder
Howard M. Bloom holds a Masters Degree in Education with a specialization in Special Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. Currently, he is a Doctoral candidate at OISE, working on his PhD. in Adult Education. Howard provides educational and behavioural consultation, teaches for agencies and speaks at conferences and workshops. Howard is a professor at Georgian College - Child and Youth Worker Programme.

Sherri-Ann Bloom - Programme DirectorSherri-Ann Bloom
Programme Director
Sherri-Ann supports the team at Blooming Acres by working collaboratively with our staff to manage our two households. Sherri-Ann ensures that our guests eat well, by coordinating our menus and food orders. She also purchases our supplies and keeps our homes in good order. Sherri-Ann works 1:1 with our various clients and is often team leader at one of our facilities.

Sherri-Ann Bloom has over a decade of expertise and contributions in the field of special needs service provision. Her experience includes work in group homes, applied behavior therapy, and private one-on-one skill development.

Sandra Pennock - Client Care ManagerSandra Pennock

Sandra manages the day to day needs of our residents. Sandra schedules and supervises our staff team, communicates with families, schedules the transportation logistics of our guests and learners, and works collaboratively with the Executive Director and Programme Coordinator to develop and initiate individual and group plans of care.

Sandra works collaboratively with our Executive Director, Programme Coordinator, specialty staff (our teachers and therapists), our front-line staff , individual families, and outside resources to develop and initiate individual and group programme plans for our residents and guests. Sandra supervises and trains our staff and team leaders, and supervises our two facilities. Sandra has been part of our community since 2003.

Julie Hazlewood - Programme CoordinatorJulie Hazlewood;
Programme Coordinator
Julie is responsible for the development and ongoing supervision of group and individual programmes. This includes areas of learning such as academic, social skills, life skills, emotional-behavioural, recreation and leisure. Julie brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this position. Julie has a degree in Child Development, and is a certified ABA Therapist.

Julie works collaboratively with our Executive Director, Client Care Manager, specialty staff (our teachers and therapists), our front-line staff, individual families, and outside resources to develop and initiate individual and group programme plans for our residents and guests. Julie supervises and trains our staff and team leaders, and supervises our two facilities.

Debbie Brennan-Administrative AssistantDebbie Brennan
Administrative Assistant
Debbie is responsible for administrative and financial duties such as payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable and intake and respite and summer camp bookings. Debbie has been with Blooming Acres since 2002

Niki Smith - Fund DeveloperNiki Smith
Fund Developer

Niki is responsible for the fundraising and resource development for our Blooming Acres Residential Care Homes Foundation. This includes working effectively with individuals, groups and organizations to support the total process of resource development.--Implementing leading edge programs to achieve results in corporate, foundation and individual giving.--Building strategic partnerships and developing relationships with donors, recipients, beneficiaries, and volunteers.--Assessing and analyzing the diversity of Canadian culture and society within the global marketplace.--Integrating the parameters of regulatory legislation and ethical practices in philanthropy.

Niki works collaboratively with the Board of Directors, Executive Director and anyone else willing to lend a hand to find the right people, at the right time, for the best fundraising results!

Front-Line Staff
Blooming Acres learners are supported by a variety of educators and therapists during their stay. Currently we have over 30 specialized and front-line staff. On our team are, certified teachers, Child and Youth Workers, Developmental Service Workers, Social Service Workers and ABA Instructor Therapists.

Each of these professionals brings the benefit of their own experiences, strengths, and talents to our community. As a result, Blooming Acres provides a diverse, individualized and well-rounded set of learning opportunities.
